Script

Alright, so I know I was talking about writing a script about a ride along, yada yada yada.

Well, I changed my mind and have started actively writing a script about a family in a waiting room. It is based on the time that my family spent in the waiting room while my uncle was being treated. Life experiences usually make good stories, especially if you have stories like my family.

Also, slowly creating music for my 16mm I made sophomore year. I'm hoping it will be good.

Sense of Place

The beaches of Ft. Lauderdale are packed with locals, even into late September.

Many of the beaches in Ft. Lauderdale are across the street from shopping areas and restaurants.

When one door closes...

Another one opens.

I didn't get into the Valley Film Fest. It's okay. I didn't pay for anything. I am going to be sending Crusade to the Sunscreen Film Fest.

BUT

I am going to be doing sponsorship stuff for a new network in Jacksonville on a kids set. My job? Find people to donate food, water, costumes, etc. for four days of shooting. All for free.

I am going to be asking the Jaguars, the Suns, Winn-Dixie, Chik-fil-a, local doctors, radio stations, and local restaurants for their help. Any specific ideas?

Wish me luck!

jax production job and new production title

I am hopefully helping out with a production crew next Friday. A guy that I used to ride to school with in middle school who we are family friends with asked for my help with location scouting and talked me up to the producer. I am calling the producer tomorrow and it sounds like I will be doing PA stuff and a bunch of random stuff for the shoot. Dan (the guy I went to school with) made sure that if I get picked up for this that I get credit for the pilot along with IMDB credit.

Also, thinking about changing my production name. Right now it is "Why the Long Face?productions". It's been that since fall semester sophomore year. My friend Eoin and I came up with it when I was studio director for a project, but I just found out that there is a music production with that same name. Yikes.

I have been making a video for my friends on my flip this whole summer. Most of the footage is from a local bar that we go to a couple of times a week because we know everyone there. I think I am going to rename my production company "Just a Splash Productions" because of this video and summer. And because it can kind of encompass a lot, just like "Why the Long Face?" could. I will upload the picture of JASP if I can.

I should know about the Valley Film Festival on the 15th and will know more about the production crew tomorrow morning. He said I could call back tonight, but the time was the exact time that the play we are going to tonight starts. He was understanding. He was also very busy so I don't think he minded. Sounded very flustered, like the way I sound when I am busy with a video.

Will post again shortly!

Found Crusade!

Crusade was found. Wahoooo

I emailed the lady and asked about it. Apparently, I was supposed to get an email telling me it was found, but that obviously didn't happen. In fact, I am still waiting on the email telling me it was submitted to make it official. I think there is a glitch in the system. Hmmm

Still doesn't mean that it is in, but it does mean that at least one other person has seen it.

The Lost Crusade?

The DVD was somehow lost on their end. I'm not sure if they found it. I feel like they would have let me know if they didn't.

The USPS confirmation said it was delivered but there was no delivery slip on their end, either. The lady I am corresponding with was being real nice and saying she would search for it so I am hoping that it was found.

If it wasn't... this just wasn't the festival it was meant to be in.

I will of course keep you updated.

Valley Film Festival

I received an email this morning with an invite to send my film to the Valley Film Festival in California at no cost for consideration.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's how I feel. Some reviewers brought it to the attention of the panel (I guess that's who they would be called) and I got an invite.

I don't think it's a guarantee or anything as it said it's for consideration, but still, I only have to pay for the shipping of my dvd so I may as well go for it.

I will keep you all posted!
