I'm not good with titles for posts...

But, it is one week away from when I drive to Orlando and hop on a plane for France. I bought my universal adaptor/plug-in/whatever it is called. I'm concerned that the fact that I don't know what it is called is a sign for the language barrier I could possibly face. This could be interesting.

Things to do before I leave:
-pick out which of the bagillion dresses I have I am taking for a possible red carpet invite
-make business cards
-buy something that will help me upload pictures directly to my computer
-try and get euros
-maybe learn some French... :/
-pack essentials (we were told to pack toilet paper. how random is that?)
-make individual packets of detergent so I won't completely overpack since I can do laundry... though I don't even know how I would pay for this laundry machine (is it quarters? free? I feel like I am wrong on both of those accounts... I will probably stand out as an American. I hope I represent well.)

I am certainly leaving out big stuff, I'm sure. If you have any ideas on stuff I should definitely bring, please let me know!

Wow- so awesome

I just saw the listings for the Short Film Corner and it was surreal to see mine as one of the ones listed in the catalogue. Really can't describe this feeling but all I know is since I found out that it was going to be shown in the SFC I've had a goofy grin on my face since.

Crusade

Big news!

Crusade was accepted for the Short Film Corner! I even called to make sure that I had read the email correctly.

The Short Film Corner is a place in the festival where my video will be shown to different marketers, producers, and what not. It should be a great learning experience for me.

Adventures (and misadventures!) so far

Hi everyone! I made this so you could follow my journey through the Cannes Film Festival as an intern. Here is a little bit of what has happened so far.

I was accepted as an intern for the festival (obviously) in December. Pretty intense process- forms, applications, phone interviews and waiting... lots of waiting.

The most waiting that has been done so far is with my passport. That was nervous. I applied in February and didn't get it until April and the other girls with me either had passports already or they got to them much sooner than mine did (even though one applied a week after me, she got it a week ahead of me. hmmmm). Though, when I did finally get it in the mail, it was a pretty exciting day since I had been waiting for so long.

I was finally able to fill out the rest of my forms now that I had a passport. It should have been easy breezy after that.

WRONG!

When I went to check my flight schedule, my plane was pushed back a full 24 hours! Ahhhh! That was an interesting call to DELTA, glad my mom made it and not me. Luckily I caught it because I think the other girls might have been on that flight.

I am now waiting some more to hear if my short video was accepted. Hopefully I will know by Thursday. Regardless, by submitting a film I get extra access to venues within the festival- not too shabby.

I had been waiting to just apply for this festival since last summer when some Flagler students came back from it. My advisor and TV teacher at the time recommended I go for it and it has been an exciting journey since then- and I'm still in the States!

Hopefully by Thursday I will know about my video. I'll embed it tomorrow and then let you know it's film status on Thursday! Cross your fingers!
