Wednesday I had work from 2-8 so I went to the pavilion early to upload my Flip video. I took the bus back to the hotel after upload and got a bit of a nap in and went back to the pavilion. This was the day that Rose showed me the back-back way. It's the way through the docks where all the yachts are. With my handy badge, I can get in here. Yes! I started to feel pretty sick this day (I'm still sick. I got whatever I have the Sunday before I left!). So I went to bed early due to this crazy not feeling good thing I had going on.
Thursday I worked 8-2. I walked to work because it was some holiday and the buses were on a weird schedule. After work, I walked around town with some friends and the American Pavilion got to go to a private screening of Inglorious Basterds. That's a movie that will be a hit when it comes out. We all agreed though that there needs to be a few reedits... either taking stuff out or adding stuff in. A few of us went to The Melting Pot. No, not the one they have in the States. It was... slow. I still have to say that "waiting" is a key word on this trip. This time we were waiting on food. It was karaoke night at the AmPav which was a lot of fun. I decided the best parties were definitely the AmPav parties.
Friday I got to go to the press screening of The Imaginarium of Dr.Parnassus. Such a good movie. You would never know that they had to change so much of the script due to Heath Ledger's sudden passing. It all looked as though that was how it was originally scripted. Great editing. Definitely a dark, yet whimsical, fairy tale. Suggest it to all. I had to get to work extra early to see this. I got to the coffee bar at about 7:10, started pots of coffees and left at 7:30 to run to the Lumiere theatre. It worked out. Walking the red carpet so early in the morning and in flats was unusual... but I may prefer it to getting dressed up in front of the microwave and doing my final touch-ups in the elevator mirrors.
Later that day I hung out with culinary at Ginger's which is a pretty cool bar. We went and shopped around town before they had to go to their shift.
I walked home by the beach and took a nap. After I woke up, I realized I lost my Cannes bag which I got for free for having a short film. This bag had my everything in it. Luckily, I found it the next day.
Saturday I worked from 2-8 so I walked around town and bought a few things. I saw some streets I had never been on and it was probably one of the hottest days since arriving. It was dead in coffee and Armon let us off an hour early. I was still sick so I was stoked about that. A group of us went to dinner up the windy road and I went to bed early that night.
Sunday... the last full day in Cannes. I packed the majority of the morning and then walked to the city. I got some ice cream and then headed to the AmPav. They didn't need me to work so I went swimming for the first and only time in the French Riviera. It was a bit impromptu so I didn't have my bathing suit so I went in my clothes. I really wanted to go swimming. The group of us swam out to this rock island and hung out on it for a while. It was real refreshing. I took the free shuttle back to the hotel and got ready for the Rat Party- leftover everything is free for the students from 5-7. At the party, I found out that we won the Flip video contest and 3 of us got honorary mention. Pretty awesome. I said my goodbye's and went to bed early that night as well.
Monday I went home. My luggage was lost. But it came in today!
I can definitely say that the world is a lot smaller than I imagined it to be after going on this trip.
Next time I go to Cannes, it will be for my movie. :)
